Leavenworth County is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator Trainee in Public Works (Road & Bridge) at the Leavenworth County Shop. The role supports construction, maintenance, and daily operations, including flagging traffic, equipment operation, and light labor tasks under supervision.

Candidate must obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months, lift up to 50 pounds, and pass a pre-employment physical. Work involves outdoor conditions and potential on-call winter duties.

Formación

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a minimum of a Class B Commercial Drivers License with endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and be capable of lifting in excess of 50 pounds.

Responsabilidades

• Operate light duty heavy equipment.
• Use hand tools for shoveling, leveling, and cutting.
• Maintain roads and right-of-way including drainage and safety.
• Load equipment and materials onto/off trailers.
• Operate snow plows and sand spreaders during winter operations.
• Inspect and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
