We’re seeking a talented and self‑motivated Portfolio Manager to join our team in Madrid. The Portfolio Manager – REO will lead the management, optimization, and disposition of a portfolio of REOs, reporting directly to the Executive Director and serving as the primary internal and client‑facing representative for the team’s workouts and the client’s committee.
What will you do on a day‑to‑day basis?
- Portfolio Strategy and Segmentation:
- Define asset segmentation, hold vs. disposition strategies, and prioritize action plans to maximize recovery and yield.
- Develop and implement short-, medium-, and long‑term playbooks for asset conversion, cleanup, and commercial traction.
- Execution and Monitoring:
- Lead execution of asset‑level plans, coordinate clean‑up (physical and legal), manage conversion processes, and track progress against KPIs.
- Establish monitoring frameworks and reporting to measure outcomes, adjust strategies, and elevate issues.
- Financial Analysis and Valuation:
- Build, maintain, and validate financial models.
- Prepare and defend offers, valuation assumptions, and exit strategies in internal committees and client meetings.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership:
- Coordinate closely with operations, legal, Sales Managers and stakeholders to ensure timely decision making.
- Drive alignment across interdisciplinary teams accountable for deliverables.
- Client and Committee Participation:
- Present portfolio performance, and evolutions to clients’ committees with clarity.
- Support deal teams to secure operations consistent with portfolio objectives.
- Data‑Driven Decision Making:
- Use data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Design and maintain dashboards and regular reports for senior leadership and clients.
What knowledge and experience do we expect you to bring to the role?
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related field; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, MSc Real Estate) is a plus.
- Experience – Minimum 5 years of direct experience managing REO, NPL collateral, or similar real estate workout portfolios.
- Proven track record of successfully driving asset conversion, clean‑up, conversion, and possession.
- Advanced Excel skills for modelling and analysis.
- SQL and Python are a plus (but not essential) for data extraction, automation, and advanced analytics.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and scenario analysis capabilities.
- Operational knowledge of REO Conversion, legal & property management, and commercial go‑to‑market execution.
- Fluency in English and Spanish for client and stakeholder communications.
Soft Skills
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills; comfortable influencing cross‑functional teams and vendors.
- Results‑oriented, decisive, and able to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution.
- Ability to attend client meetings and site visits as required; travel frequency will depend on portfolio geography.
- High persuasive ability and negotiation skills; able to defend offers and performance under scrutiny.
