Applaudo is seeking an experienced Application Architect to design robust, scalable cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure for complex business applications. You will translate requirements into architectural designs, define patterns for backend and frontend, and drive ADRs while collaborating with C-level executives.

You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, integrate cross-platform systems, and leverage AI-assisted tooling to improve architecture docs and roadmaps.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years in Software Eng with 3+ years in Architecture/Tech Leadership.
• Proven ability to design architectures for complex systems.
• Backend architecture experience with Node.js and frameworks (Express, NestJS).
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong REST API ecosystem design and governance.
• Event-driven and asynchronous processing design.
• Experience integrating multi-source-of-truth systems.
• Solid authentication/authorization knowledge (OAuth2, SSO).
• Ability to defend Architecture Decisions Records (ADRs).
• Strong communication with technical and executive leadership.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools to enhance architecture docs.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze and translate business requirements into technical architectures and module designs.
• Define technologies, patterns, and architecture principles for Backend and Frontend.
• Size and structure resource architecture for the Order Management System product.
• Collaborate with Product Owner and Business Architect to keep roadmaps aligned.
• Present architecture proposals to leadership and specialized teams to secure approvals.
• Document system integrations across cross-functional platforms.
• Mentor development teams and enforce best practices.
• Work with DevOps to design infrastructure, pipelines, and operational needs.
• Coordinate with Data team on data architecture for operational and analytical needs.

About you

You are an Application Architect with proven experience designing robust, scalable, and cloud-native architectures for complex business applications. You are skilled at translating business requirements into detailed technical designs, defining architectural patterns and technology standards across backend and frontend environments, and designing integrations across systems with multiple sources of truth.

You combine strong architectural judgment with hands-on Microsoft Azure experience and a proactive leadership style. You are comfortable making technical decisions, documenting and defending them through Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and presenting architecture proposals and technical roadmaps directly to technical leaders, business stakeholders, and C-level executives. You can quickly ramp up in complex environments, guide development teams, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to strengthen architecture workflows and documentation.

Note: This role operates under a contractor model.

You bring to Applaudo the following competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is desired, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of Software Engineering experience, with 3+ years in Architecture or Technical Leadership roles.
• Proven and solid experience designing application and software architectures for complex systems.
• Backend architecture experience with Node.js and frameworks such as Express or NestJS.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong background in REST API ecosystem design and governance.
• Event-Driven Architecture and asynchronous processing design.
• Experience integrating multi-source-of-truth systems.
• Solid understanding of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, SSO) applied to architecture and security.
• Demonstrated ability to create and defend Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
• Assertive and proactive communication skills, with the ability to make technical decisions and effectively explain and defend their rationale.
• Practical exposure to AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, or similar), with the ability to leverage AI to generate architecture documentation.
• Advanced English proficiency with conversational fluency for direct communication with C-level executives and the ability to present technical roadmaps without intermediaries.
• Fast ramp-up capability.

You will be accountable for the following responsibilities:

• Analyze and translate business requirements into solid technical architectures, creating detailed designs for each proposed module.
• Define technologies, design patterns, and architectural principles for both Backend and Frontend.
• Define, size, and structure the resource architecture for the Order Management System product.
• Work closely with the Product Owner and Business Architect to assess technical feasibility, evaluate alternatives, and keep the product roadmap aligned.
• Present and defend architecture proposals to leadership, technical leads, and specialized teams (Data, Infrastructure, Microsoft) to secure key validations and approvals.
• Define and technically document system integrations with cross-functional platforms from other teams.
• Guide and mentor the development team, establishing best practices and steering execution of the defined architecture.
• Actively collaborate with the DevOps team to design and implement infrastructure, pipelines, and operational needs for the solution.
• Coordinate with the Data team on the data architecture needed to support the product's operational and analytical needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Architecture or Technical Leadership roles.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to create and defend Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
• Advanced English, C-level facing communication.
• Backend: NestJS or Node.js/Express accepted.
