Job summary

Climate Focus in Bogotá or Berlin seeks a Consultant to advance GHG accounting for nature-based solutions. You will work on carbon project feasibility, verification support, and ensuring integrity of carbon markets.

You will perform quantitative and qualitative assessments, develop accounting methodologies, analyze geospatial data with GIS, Excel, and coding tools, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to expand Climate Focus’s project pipeline.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in forestry, agronomy, ecology, soil science, remote sensing, climate science, or a related field required.
• At least 5 years in carbon projects or carbon accounting related to NBS (REDD, ARR, IFM, ALM, Blue Carbon) preferred.
• Excellent writing, communication, and advisory skills; ability to tailor messages to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Carry out quantitative and qualitative assessments of NBS carbon projects at diverse development stages to assess robustness of carbon accounting.
• Develop carbon accounting methodologies for NBS carbon projects.
• Compile and analyze data on carbon projects and carbon markets.
• Develop quantitative and spatial analysis, modelling, and data visualization using GIS, spreadsheets, and programming languages.
• Support development of corporate GHG inventories in land use space.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and summarize conclusions for investors and project developers.
• Take charge of Climate Focus projects and support pipeline expansion.
