Zohorecruit in Floridablanca, Colombia seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist with HVAC & Plumbing (MEP) systems design, calculations, BIM, and technical docs under senior engineer mentorship. Hybrid on-site and remote work with US client exposure offers hands-on experience in international projects.

The role targets a full-time student in the 9th or 10th semester (UIS), with availability 40 hours/week and strong technical English. Prior CAD/BIM exposure is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in thermal load calculations and equipment sizing.
• Support preliminary design of plumbing networks (domestic water, drainage, venting).
• Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing and head loss evaluations.
• Assist drafting and 3D modeling in AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Review drawings to ensure compliance with ASHRAE, IPC and IMC.

Mechanical Engineering Intern – HVAC & Plumbing (MEP)

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. In this role, you will actively support the development of international building engineering projects, focusing on HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and Plumbing (MEP) systems design, engineering calculations, BIM modeling, and technical documentation under the mentorship of senior engineers.

Duration & Commitment

• Dedication: Full-time (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in thermal load calculations, psychrometric analysis, and equipment sizing.
• Support the preliminary design of plumbing networks (domestic cold/hot water, drainage, and venting).
• Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and head loss evaluations.
• Assist in drafting and 3D modeling using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Review, interpret, and prepare technical engineering specifications and drawings according to international building codes (ASHRAE, IPC, IMC).
• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and participate in engineering technical reviews.

Requirements

Academic Requirements

• Active student currently enrolled in the 9th or 10th semester of Mechanical Engineering at Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), close to completing degree requirements or graduating.
• Full‑time availability (40 hours per week during standard business hours) with no course schedule conflicts.

Required Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Solid understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• Core understanding of fluid flow, pipe sizing, pressure losses, and pumping systems.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel for engineering calculations.
• Technical English proficiency (B1/B2 level): solid reading comprehension of engineering manuals, specifications, and codes.
• Fundamental technical drawing and plan reading skills.

Desirable Qualifications (Plus)

• Familiarity with US Customary / Imperial Units (CFM, GPM, BTU/h, Tons, PSI).
• Working knowledge or practical exposure to Revit MEP and Navisworks.
• Basic familiarity with international MEP codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC).
