The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to perform routine motor vehicle maintenance and repair at our facilities.

The role involves replacing worn parts, conducting preventive maintenance, and servicing gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuel engines under moderate supervision. Applicants should have a high school diploma, at least two years of experience in vehicle maintenance, a valid driver's license, and familiarity with diagnostic tools and maintenance software.

Formación

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical courses preferred.
  • Two years of motor vehicle maintenance and repair experience.
  • Valid driver’s license; ASE certifications may be required.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and use of diagnostic tools and testing instruments.

Responsabilidades

  • The Mechanic exchanges, rebuilds, and overhauls motors, transmissions, carburetors, and other motor vehicle components and systems.
  • Checks and repairs electrical and cooling systems.
  • Performs oil and filter changes, transmission service, brake and suspension repair, tire installation and alignment, wheel balancing, and A/C diagnosis.
  • Performs minor engine tune-ups and adjustments.
  • Performs motor vehicle body repair and touch-up painting.
  • Maintains records of work performed and parts used.

Responsibilities
Summary

The Mechanic performs routine motor vehicle maintenance and repair work. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or broken parts; performing preventive maintenance activities; and servicing motor vehicle equipment and related gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuel engine-powered equipment. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • The Mechanic exchanges, rebuilds, and overhauls motors, transmissions, carburetors, and other motor vehicle components and systems.
  • Checks and repairs electrical and cooling systems.
  • The Mechanic performs oil and filter changes, transmission service, brake and suspension repair, schedules tire installation and repair, wheel alignments, air conditioning diagnosis and repair, state vehicle inspections, and other maintenance activities.
  • Performs minor engine tune-ups and makes required adjustments on motor vehicle’s motors and engines.
  • The Mechanic performs motor vehicle body repair work and touch up painting.
  • Performs safety and emissions inspections.
  • The Mechanic tests motors and engines for satisfactory performance.
  • Installs after-market accessories and equipment.
  • The Mechanic maintains records of work performed and parts used.
  • Uses on-board or hand-held electronic diagnostic equipment and other specialized tools and equipment to isolate and adjust malfunctions.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical courses in motor vehicle maintenance and repair are preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repair work.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • May require certification(s) from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence.
  • May require a Safety Inspector license.
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and repair techniques and of safety practices and principles.
  • Skill in the use of tools, machines, and testing instruments used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, and to locate and diagnose defective mechanical operations.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
