Job summary

Caseware is seeking a Staff Software Developer in a fully remote role based in Colombia. You will shape architecture, mentor engineers, and influence across teams to scale solutions beyond a single codebase.

You will own features end-to-end, drive architectural standards, and partner with QA, Product, and Security to ensure robust observability, reliability, and quality of the systems you own. Strong Java, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes experience are required.

Qualifications

• In-depth, extensive experience with server-side Java, regarded as a subject matter expert on Java.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience with core Java.
• Experience with monolith applications and microservices.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction.
• Proven experience designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure.
• Experience working in an agile team with developers, testers, and a product owner.
• Experience contributing to architectural decisions and driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Own key features and architectural improvements end-to-end — from design through build — using modern, leading-edge technology and architecture.
• Collaborate with a team of deep technical experience and strong domain knowledge; brainstorm and share ideas.
• Take initiative on complex, business-critical challenges such as third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization.
• Define and evolve technical architecture, establishing standards that support safe, scalable, and reusable capabilities across teams.
• Act as a technical leader across teams, influencing architectural decisions through design reviews, RFCs, and hands‑on collaboration.
• Lead proof‑of‑concepts that inform roadmap and architectural decisions.

AI-Augmented Development Expectations

• Champion effective, responsible use of AI‑assisted development tools across multiple teams.
• Define standards and guardrails for how AI‑assisted and agentic tooling is used across the SDLC, balancing velocity with correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Evaluate and pilot new AI‑assisted development tools and agentic workflows; make recommendations on adoption at scale.
• Mentor senior and junior engineers on advanced AI‑assisted development practices.
• Own feedback loops and metrics that measure the impact of AI‑assisted development on velocity and quality across teams.

Qualifications
