WSP COLOMBIA SAS is seeking an Intermediate Substations Engineer to develop physical layouts and designs for HV and EHV substations rated 230 kV and above. You will prepare GA drawings, site plans, and installation drawings, ensuring compliance with standards and constructability.

Develop physical layouts and engineering designs for High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations rated 230 kV and above.
Prepare and review substation general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, site plans, elevation drawings, section views, and detailed installation drawings.
Design and coordinate substation equipment arrangements, ensuring compliance with utility standards, safety clearances, and constructability requirements.
Develop grounding layouts, cable trench and conduit routing plans, lightning protection systems, and station auxiliary layouts.
Support greenfield and brownfield substation projects, including expansions, upgrades, modernizations, and new station developments.
Collaborate closely with civil, structural, protection & control, transmission line, and project management teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Review vendor drawings and incorporate equipment requirements into substation physical designs.
Prepare construction design packages, bill of materials (BOMs), technical reports, and engineering calculations.
Implement engineering deliverables in accordance with client specifications, industry standards, and quality management procedures.
Support project execution activities, including design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and construction support.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
6-9 years of experience in transmission and distribution substation engineering.
Demonstrated experience in physical design and layout development of substations rated 230 kV and above.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for engineering design, drafting, and drawing production.
Experience preparing:
Experience with substation equipment
Knowledge of AIS (Air-Insulated Substation) and GIS (Gas-Insulated Substation) configurations.
Experience supporting greenfield and brownfield transmission substation projects.
Strong understanding of utility, IEEE, CSA, IEC, and/or NESC standards related to substation design.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
