Scotia GBS in Bogota, Colombia is seeking a finance professional to join the Accounting Team. You will perform journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting to support IFRS-driven statements.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 1-2 years of relevant experience, advanced Excel, strong analytical and communication skills, and English at an advanced level. This is an office-based role with standard hours.

• Contributes to the overall success of the Finance Service Unit’s accounting area ensuring specific goals and plans are executed.
• Processes journal entries, reconciliations and variance analysis as required.
• Generates financial reports and statements.
• Analyses financial discrepancies and recommends resolutions.
• Records financial transactions according to policies and regulations.
• Participates in meetings and team activities.
• Identify process improvement opportunities for the team.

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Finance Service Unit’s accounting area ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures and guarantee the reasonableness of accounting information under the scope of the Accounting Team in Bogotá.

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Processes and/or performs journal entries/reconciliations and variance analysis, as required
• Generate financial reports and statements
• Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
• Prepared and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations
• Attend meetings as required by team leaders.
• Identify process improvement opportunities for the team
• Keep Desktop Training Procedures (DTP) documents for relevant processes up to date.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Finance related, or Business Administration
• 1 -2 years of experience in similar roles.
• Experience with computerized ledger systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Communication Skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment.
• English level advanced.

Working Conditions

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
