Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) seeks a Data Scientist II to own technical projects from initiation to delivery within the GRDS team. The role combines hands-on data work with independent planning, risk anticipation, and escalation when needed.

The Data Scientist II will apply DS methods, build data models, and mentor staff while collaborating with country offices, sector programs, and partners to ensure reproducible, high-quality analyses.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a quantitative field.
• At least three years of professional data science or data engineering experience.
• Proven Python data science or engineering project delivery.
• SQL proficiency for analytics and data querying.
• Experience with Git and reproducible workflows.
• Strong quantitative skills and core statistical understanding.
• Clear written and verbal English communication.

Responsabilidades

• Lead projects from initiation to delivery and report status to the manager.
• Provide high-quality technical support to country offices and research projects.
• Develop scopes of work and conduct data quality audits.
• Apply data science methods including ML, NLP, and geospatial analysis.
• Develop data models and analytical pipelines in SQL and Python.
• Deliver outputs in tools such as SurveyCTO, Stata, R, and Python.
• Mentor and guide junior staff, review code, and promote good practices.
• Translate analyses into clear products, visuals, and documentation.
• Present findings to diverse stakeholders and stay current with methods.
