Bluelight is a leading software consultancy seeking a senior backend engineer to design and develop high-quality applications. You will work on scalable RESTful APIs, data-intensive services, and multi-tenant environments, collaborating with frontend teams, AI coding assistants, and clients across time zones.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in backend development with Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Fastify, plus a Bachelor's degree.

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency, scalable RESTful APIs on AWS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience with containerized services on AWS Fargate/ECS.
• Experience with Fastify and schema-first validation (Zod).
• Professional experience with React and full-stack capabilities.
• Bachelor's degree required.

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
