Job: Electrical Design Engineer (8–10 Years Experience)

Our Life Sciences team supports biopharmaceutical manufacturers, CDMOs, and advanced therapy companies through every stage of facility development — from conceptual planning to construction support and commissioning.

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Life Sciences group in Broomfield, CO or Lenexa, KS. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to complex, high-impact projects that shape the future of the life sciences and industrial manufacturing sectors.

What You’ll Do

You’ll play a key role in designing electrical systems that power critical environments — from cleanrooms to R&D labs.

Develop design calculations, layouts, and construction documents for biopharmaceutical and industrial facility projects.

Create technical query documents and provide design clarifications as needed.

Support engineering studies and facility assessments for life sciences clients.

Collaborate with architects, structural, mechanical, process, and automation engineers to deliver integrated solutions.

Design lighting and power distribution systems for manufacturing and research facilities.

Specify and design uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and security systems integration.

Participate in internal design reviews and coordinate with vendors and contractors during design development.

Maintain a current understanding of electrical codes, standards, and pharmaceutical best practices.

Support QA/QC processes and review shop drawings for electrical systems and equipment.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

5+ years of relevant electrical design experience.

Experience in Life Sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical facilities (preferred but not required).

Proficiency in Revit for electrical design and documentation.

Experience with AutoCAD (a plus for legacy projects).

Familiarity with electrical analysis tools such as SKM PowerTools or ETAP.

Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and local codes.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.

Strong attention to detail and quality in design documentation.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred (or ability to obtain).

Willingness to travel occasionally (10–20%) for client meetings and site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cleanroom and critical utility design.

Familiarity with FDA-regulated facilities and ISPE Baseline Guides.

Knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems (Class I, Division 1/2).

Interest in energy efficiency and sustainability practices.

Experience with cold storage and controlled temperature facilities.
