Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is seeking a senior Design Systems Engineer to own how client design systems are built. You will extract patterns from brands and reference sites into a tokens-and-components system that a pipeline can execute, with precision across multiple client brands.

This is a senior, systems-first role focused on building scalable design systems, not one-off pages or maintenance. Strong English and US-hour overlap are expected as you support US clients.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design system work in portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants.
• Portfolio shows work across multiple clients with consistent underlying rigor.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, with the same structural rigor.
