Job summary

Simpalm Staffing is seeking a Design Engineer for a USA client to transform bold retail concepts into manufacturable display fixtures. The role requires hands-on SolidWorks expertise, and the ability to develop complete drawing packs and BOMs for prototype and production phases.

You will design for manufacturability in plastic, metal, and wood, balancing cost, safety, assembly, and usability, while collaborating with production and project teams to protect design intent and meet delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing POP displays or retail fixtures.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for drawings and BOM creation.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Translate design concepts into manufacturable engineering solutions.
• Develop complete drawing packs and BOMs for prototype and production phases.
• Design for manufacturability in plastics, metals, and wood, balancing cost, safety, assembly and usability.
• Collaborate with production and project teams to protect design intent, quality standards and delivery timelines.
• Support prototype builds and inspections with DPM/PPM teams to ensure quality and functionality.
• Visit factories to review construction methods, verify specifications and conduct quality checks.
• Ensure all technical documentation meets company standards and project specifications.

Simpalm Staffing is hiring a Design Engineer for one of our direct clients in the USA. If you turn bold retail concepts into display fixtures that are built, shipped, and sold, this role is for you. You’ll bring hands-on SolidWorks expertise, a strong command of manufacturing-ready drawings, and working knowledge of plastic, metal, and wood fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate design concepts and client requirements into detailed, manufacturable engineering solutions.
• Develop complete drawing packs and BOMs for prototype and production phases.
• Design for manufacturability in plastic, metal, and wood, balancing cost, safety, assembly, and usability.
• Collaborate with production and project teams to protect design intent, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
• Support prototype build-outs and inspections with DPM/PPM teams, ensuring quality and functional requirements are met.
• Visit factories as needed to review construction methods, verify specifications, and conduct quality checks.
• Ensure all technical documentation meets company standards and project specifications.

• Plastics: Sheet fabrication, vacuum forming, injection molding, extrusions
• Metals: Sheet metal, wire forming, tube bending, finishing
• Wood: Fabrication, hardware integration, finishing
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, including drawing packs and BOM creation.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders in a team environment.

Nice to Have:

• SolidWorks EPDM knowledge
• Familiarity with 3D rendering tools such as 3ds Max or Cinema 4D
