Scotiabank is seeking a junior Data Engineer to contribute to the development of data assets and models for International Banking Analytics. You will build scalable data pipelines for on-prem and cloud environments and collaborate with BI teams to deliver data for PowerBI-driven insights.

The role requires knowledge of SQL, Python, Airflow, and cloud technologies, with a focus on reliability and efficient data delivery across international teams. Hybrid work model expected.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Experience as a junior Data Engineer or Technical Business Analyst.
• Knowledge of SQL, Python, Git, Airflow; Spark and Docker are a plus.
• Experience with Big Data and Cloud Technologies is preferred.
• English proficiency at B2 level is desirable.

Responsabilidades

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the development of data assets/data models serving International Banking Analytics. The Specialist for Data Engineering will be responsible for using established templates for collecting, managing, and converting raw data into information via data pipelines and data bases to be consumed for business intelligence and advanced analytics applications. Ensures all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Accountabilities

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Participate in data engineering and transformation design to ensure highly scalable, extensible, and performant solutions.
• Collaborates in the coordination of the International Banking data engineering community; supporting training and onboarding of new users, and support the implementation of data assets across international teams .
• Hands on development supporting Data integration, Analytics and for On-prem and Cloud environments, to generate scalable data assets across Scotiabank international markets
• Functions as a member of an agile team and helps drive consistent development practices, tools usage, common components, and patterns.
• Collaborates and supports analytic teams to proactively build and improve existing operating models, increasing reliability and stability of data platforms for end users in accordance with stablished engineering practices and automation.
• Contribute to data delivery for some of highly visible and critical projects across bank
• Knowledge with GCP, SQL, Python, Airflow, git
• Works in collaboration with BI teams, with proficiency in PowerBI and in setting up data pipelines to PowerBI.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education / Experience / Other Information

• Experience working as a junior Data Engineer or Technical Business Analyst.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field or relevant experience.
• Cloud computing knowledge, Data Quality and Governance is a plus.
• Knowledge with SQL, Python, git, Airflow, spark (nice to have), docker (nice to have)

Assets

• Experience with Big Data and Cloud Technologies
• Experience with GitHub, JIRA, Confluence
• Experience working in Retail/Risk Banking Domain is an asset
• Experience working in an Agile team environment
• Knowledge of MS Power BI (Data consumption)
• Proficiency with Big Query
• English proficiency B2

Working Conditions

• Work in hybrid model of remote and in a standard office-based environment. Role maybe expected to provide development production support in a rotation basis outside of business hours
