J.S. Held seeks a Building Consultant for its Medellin office, focusing on delivering exceptional service and sound consulting on complex projects.

You will communicate with clients and stakeholders, perform take-offs, estimates, analysis, and reporting for claims processes. The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years in construction budgeting, restoration, scheduling, and fieldwork, with English proficiency and willingness to travel between Colombia and the United States.

Formación

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 2 years in construction budgeting, restoration, scheduling, and project management.
• Fieldwork experience on at least one construction project.
• Bilingual with strong English proficiency.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in client communication and maintain relationships with project representatives.
• Perform field inspections and site visits.
• Assist in estimating projects and learn Xactimate, Cotality, RSMeans.
• Support QA reviews of estimates and identify inconsistencies.
• Develop knowledge of water restoration and structural drying for consulting.
• Create Period of Repair schedules based on damage and repair needs.
• Review documents including schedules, contracts, change orders, and reports.
• Communicate effectively to meet deadlines and cost targets.

J.S. Held is seeking a highly motivated Building Consultantwith a strong focus on delivering exceptional service and superior work product to clientele for our Building Consulting Practice Group in our Medellin, Colombia office. You will be responsible for communicating with clients and any stakeholders related to the claim process, detailed take-off of property condition, estimating, analyzing and reporting for complex projects.

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years of construction budgeting, scheduling, document quality control, mitigation and restoration, fieldwork construction or equivalent experience in the construction industry. The candidate should be eager to understand the methodology for negotiating and settling insurance claims efficiently and be willing to develop their analytical and report-writing skills to contribute to expert reports. Previous experience working with General Contractors in the United States is highly desirable and will set candidates apart.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assisting in client communication and maintaining positive relationships with project representatives.
• Perform field inspections and necessary site visits.
• Assisting in estimating small to large projects, with a willingness to learn and develop proficiency in using tools like Xactimate, Cotality and RSMeans.
• Assist with quality assurance reviews of construction estimates, identifying inconsistencies, missing information, and items requiring further evaluation.
• Motivated to develop in-depth knowledge of water restoration and structural drying, with the goal of deliveringexpert-level consulting services.
• Assist in developing Period of Repair (POR) schedules based on property damage and repair requirements.
• Document review and analysis of schedules, contracts, change orders, correspondence, daily reports, meeting minutes, monthly reports, and any additional documents relating to a project.
• Excellent communication skills to ensure deadlines and cost targets are met.

Ideal candidates exhibit the following attributes and background:

• Civil Engineering bachelor’sor Construction Management degreefrom an accredited college or university, or industry level experience.
• 2 years minimum construction budgeting, restoration, scheduling, and some project management experience.
• Fieldwork experience on at least one construction project.
• Bilingual, with strong written and spoken English proficiency.
• Proficient in Xactimate, Cotality or RS Means estimating is highly desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Willingness to travel overnight, out-of-state, or abroad - Capability to travel between Colombia and the United States.
• Strong analysis and critical thinking skills.
• Deadline and detail-oriented.
• Strong independent work ethic and leadership qualities.
