Butler County Special Education Interlocal #638 in Colombia seeks a CNA to support students with medical and behavioral needs in the classroom. You will assist with diapering, toileting, feeding and personal care under the supervising teacher to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.

The ideal candidate holds a CNA certification or a high school diploma/GED, can lift, and works well in crowded, noisy settings.

• Supervise students on buses and during dismissal and field trips.

Job Title

Purpose

To improve the quality of the educational program offered to exceptional children with medical needs, while also providing support to other student with special needs.

Hours

To be determined by supervising teacher with a maximum of 35 hours per week.

Job Requirements

• A. Evidence of good mental and physical health.
• B. Correct articulation and language use.
• C. Must assist with diapering and toileting.
• D. Assist with feeding, feeding tubes, and personal care according to supervisor.
• E. Able to work in crowded, noisy environments.
• F. Must implement directions from the professional.
• G. Lifting is required.
• H. Able to accept supervision from the supervising teacher.
• I. Deescelate challenging behaviors.

Qualifications

• A. Must be high school graduate or have GED, CNA certification.
• B. Assist teachers and specialists in collection and preparation of instructional materials and equipment.
• C. Work with individual students with medical needs and behavioral needs.
• D. Work with communication devices.
• E. Assist with classroom housekeeping chores.
• F. Prepare instructional aids, games, and bulletin boards at the discretion of the supervisor.
• G. Perform various clerical duties within the classroom. This may include data entry on computer.
• H. Supervise students on buses and/or at dismissal and/or on field trips.
• I. Assist in carrying out programs set up by support personnel (OT, PT, speech and Vocational).
• J. Maintain good public relations with parents, supervisor and co-workers.
• K. Any and other all duties as assigned by the supervisor(s.).
