Monks is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Node and TypeScript. You will own APIs, data models, and infrastructure decisions in a fast-paced, AI‑driven consulting environment.

You will collaborate with clients and product teams, review AI-generated code for quality, and ensure correctness, observability, and performance. Experience with PostgreSQL, AWS, and distributed systems is essential.

Formación

• 5+ years in backend development with strong Node/TypeScript.
• Solid REST API design and implementation.
• Strong PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.
• Experience building on AWS (e.g. Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3).
• A good grasp of service architecture and distributed systems.
• Good testing habits.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, agile consulting environment.

Senior Backend Engineer

About The Role

We build production systems for clients where the backend has to be correct, scalable, and observable. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you design and build the services, APIs, and data layers that the rest of the product depends on.

You’ll work inside a Monks delivery team, alongside clients, product, and other engineers, owning the parts of the system that have to be right.

We’re all-in on agentic engineering. Tools like Claude Code and Codex are part of our everyday workflow, and we’re looking for people who are genuinely fluent working alongside AI coding agents and excited to push those practices further.
