Job summary

Aprio is seeking a Senior Application Developer to design, build, and maintain business-critical applications that support our firm’s complex operations and strategic initiatives.

You will lead development from requirements through implementation, collaborate with stakeholders and IT teams, and mentor colleagues in a fast-growing professional services environment offering strong growth and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively complex application development experience.
• Experience with relational database design.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software systems across platforms.
• Lead the technical consultative process between end users and IT staff to identify needs and enhance capabilities.
• Develop project scope docs, requirements specifications, and statements of work; obtain approvals.
• Manage external client relationships including status communications and testing coordination.
• Support applications by resolving help desk tickets and defects.
• Assist with prioritization, estimation, and entering projects into trackers.
• Document technical knowledge and stay current on emerging technologies; share findings.
• Mentor and support team member development through guidance.

Job Summary

Aprio is seeking a Senior Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain business-critical applications that support complex operations across the firm. In this role, you will serve as a technical subject matter expert, partnering with stakeholders and IT teams to translate business needs into scalable, high-quality software solutions. You will lead development efforts from requirements gathering through implementation and ongoing support, while also contributing to the growth and capability of those around you. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software systems and applications using approved languages and tools across assigned platforms
• Lead the technical consultative process between end users and IT staff to identify needs, resolve issues, and enhance system capabilities
• Develop and deliver project scope documentation, requirements specifications, and statements of work; follow through on approvals and modifications as needed
• Manage external client relationships including project status communications, implementation planning, and client testing coordination
• Support assigned applications by resolving help desk tickets, correcting defects, and documenting corrective actions taken
• Assist with project prioritization by gathering requirements, estimating effort, and entering projects into appropriate tracking tools
• Document technical application knowledge and share findings with team members; remain current on emerging technologies and contribute recommendations for continuous improvement
• Mentor and support team member development through guidance and knowledge sharing

Candidate Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively complex application development experience
• Experience with relational database design
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, HTML, or Eclipse; Linux; Apache Tomcat; Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, or C#; Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, or SQL Server Integration Services; SharePoint; Crystal Reports; GeneXus™; or IBM System i CL, RPG II, III, or ILE
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to shifting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Accounting, or a related business field
• Experience creating and consuming web services
• Knowledge of performance tuning and load balancing techniques for web applications
• Experience with user interface design for web-based applications
• Familiarity with application security best practices

Additional Details

• Work Environment: Hybrid 3 times per week in the Bogotá office
• Occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stay for work at client’s offices, meetings, or seminars.
• Increased workload required during certain times of the year.
