UN Secretariat seeks a Senior Research Assistant to independently monitor substantive work in the Population Division across countries. You will select, evaluate, and summarize documents, collect and analyze data, and prepare background materials for studies and reports.

The role involves creating data sets, databases, and charts for reporting, and supporting project formulation and meetings. You will liaise with research institutes, organize meetings/workshops, and draft technical texts,

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational certificate in social sciences, economy, demography desirable.
• Ten years of data collection and research experience in social/economic development; eight years if university degree.
• Eight years of research in population and development; five years in sociodemographic research.
• Experience in systematizing, processing, analyzing, and disseminating sociodemographic data.
• Desirable: experience providing technical assistance on population and development issues in Latin America and the Caribbean; knowledge of Redatam; data analytics.

Responsabilidades

• Identify and monitor substantive work aspects across countries; select and evaluate documents; summarize material; collect and analyze data.
• Prepare background information for studies and reports; develop input for electronic databases and web sources.
• Design/update databases; build data sets; produce charts/graphs for reporting; assist in project formulation and monitoring.
• Organize meetings/workshops; draft agendas; liaise with internal/external partners; draft/edit technical texts and newsletters.
