FullStack is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our talent network for flexible, project-based development working with U.S. clients. You should have 5+ years of backend experience, strong Laravel and PHP skills, and experience moving monoliths to Go microservices.

English proficiency is required, and you will collaborate daily with client teams, contributing to scalable, high-traffic systems and on-call rotations with strict SLAs. Remote work is supported from the Americas.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Advanced English is required.
• A four-year college degree is required.
• Experience with Laravel and PHP monoliths.
• Experience extracting monolithic logic and rewriting into Go microservices.
• Ability to scale backend for high-traffic launches and concurrency.
• On-call engineering rotation with SLAs (e.g., 15 minutes).
• Nice-to-have: payments, redemptions, or fraud pipelines; Next.js or React Native.

The Opportunity

• You will integrate directly into our client's team and work alongside their existing designers and engineers on a daily basis.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
• Advanced English is required.
• Successful completion of a four-year college degree is required.
• Has developed, deployed, and maintained core monolithic backends using Laravel and PHP.
• Has extracted monolithic application logic and rewritten it into Go Microservices.
• Has scaled backend infrastructure to handle high-traffic product launches and high-concurrency user loads.
• Has executed on-call engineering rotation duties with strict acknowledgment SLAs (e.g., 15 minutes).
• Familiarity with building or supporting payments, redemptions, or fraud prevention pipelines is a nice to have.
• Previous exposure to frontend or mobile stacks such as Next.js or React Native is a nice to have.
• Experience using AI coding assistants like Claude Code or Cursor in your daily workflow is a nice to have.
• Availability to work standard business hours aligned with the Pacific Time (PT) zone.
• Ability to work through new and difficult issues and contribute to libraries as needed.
• Ability to create and maintain continuous integration and delivery of applications.
• Forensic attention to detail.
• A positive mindset and a can-do attitude.
• Experience working on Agile/Scrum teams.
• Meaningful experience working on large, complex systems.
• Ability to take extreme ownership over your work. Every day is a challenge to ensure you are performing to the expectations you and your team have agreed upon.
• Ability to identify with the goals of FullStack's clients, and dedicate yourself to delivering on the commitments you and your team make to them.

We’re Seeking Engineers Who Are AI-enthusiastic In Their Workflow. Professional Experience Or Personal Project Work With The Following Is a Significant Plus

• Cursor, Windsurf, or Google Antigravity.
• Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex, or Copilot CLI.
