Bluelight is a leading software consultancy seeking a senior backend-focused engineer to design and develop high-quality applications for diverse clients. You will work with Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS to build low-latency APIs, scalable services, and secure multi-tenant environments while integrating external services and maintaining robust tests.

You will contribute to frontend work when needed, participate in CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with a team that values continuous learning,

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (backend-focused).
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS and scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB including Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience with secure multi-tenant environments and writing raw SQL with migrations.
• Solid testing practices including integration tests against real databases.
• Experience with Fastify and schema-first validation (e.g., Zod).
• Experience running containerized services on AWS Fargate/ECS.
• Experience in compliance-sensitive or audit-heavy domains (fintech, telecom/TCPA).
• Overlapping US business hours and a client-focused mindset.

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
