Bechtel Santiago is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to conduct field investigations and lead cost estimates for civil/structural aspects of projects. You will oversee design development, constructability reviews, and ensure adherence to Bechtel standards for complex infrastructure work.
The role requires a bachelor's degree and 5–12 years of relevant experience, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on major projects in Chile.

Mining and Metals:
Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.
This role, will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects. Leading design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. The technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.
Schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, building, roadways, railroads, etc.
Participates in the design, development and modification of Civil/Structural components andprocesses utilizingrelevant Engineering Department Procedures(EDPs), design standards and guides, BechtelStandard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices(DRNs)
Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
Originates and checks structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions
Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements
Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
Completes Civil/Structural documentation and procedures for installationand maintenance
Provides assistance toproject and constructionmanagement in identifying and complying withproject Civil/Structural requirements and in addressingissues as they arise during project execution
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
