Zusammenfassung

Big Science Sweden is seeking an experienced International Welding Engineer (IWE) to join CERN's Engineering Department in Geneva. This role requires advanced welding and non-destructive testing expertise to support complex interventions in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) during the Long Shutdown 3 period from 2026 to 2029.

Jobbeschreibung

The Engineering Department at CERN is seeking an experienced International Welding Engineer (IWE) to join the Forming & Welding Section (MME-FW) within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Group (MME). The selected candidate will provide advanced technical expertise in welding and non‑destructive testing (NDT) in support of complex interventions scheduled in the underground areas of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and its associated experiments.

These activities will take place during the Long Shutdown 3 (LS3), expected to begin at the end of 2026 and continue until 2029. This position is part of the High‑Luminosity LHC (HL‑LHC) and Experiments Upgrade, a major program aimed at significantly increasing the collider's performance.

  • You have a professional background in Mechanical or Materials Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
    • aMaster's degree with 2 to 6 years of post‑graduation professional experience;
    • or aPhD with no more than 3 years of post‑graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
