Job Title: Vice President of Global Procurement

Client: Global Industrial Automation Machinery Company

Location: Remote/Hybrid in Zurich, Switzerland (can be as little as 2-3 days per month in Zurich with other business travel). The role can also be based in one of their other offices in France, Germany or the BeNeLux region.

Company: We are partnering with a rapidly expanding, market-leading organisation in the Industrial Automation sector. Our client is focused on becoming the undisputed global staple for future production technologies. To sustain this aggressive growth and further expand market share, they are investing heavily in a transformative Procurement function and are seeking a VP to lead this change.

The Mandate: Strategic Transformation and Growth Leadership

This is a critical executive role with a clear mandate: to transform the Global Procurement function from a transactional group into a highly strategic business partner. The Vice President will be responsible for defining the global sourcing strategy, ensuring supply chain resilience, and delivering significant, sustainable value across the organization.

Key Focus Areas & Non-Negotiable Deliverables

1. Strategic Integration & Partnership:

• Building Bridges: Integrate Procurement as a core strategic partner with R&D, Engineering, and Quality departments. Drive early supplier involvement (ESI) and design-to-cost initiatives crucial for product development in industrial automation.
• Talent Transformation: Lead the organization's procurement talent strategy, focusing on finding, mentoring, and developing the right talent pool to support future business scale.

2. Functional Excellence & Maturity:

• P2P Implementation: Drive the organization toward a fully‑fledged, highly efficient Procure-to-Pay (P2P) department, optimizing technology and processes for maximum efficiency and control.
• Procurement Excellence: Establish and govern a dedicated Procurement Excellence Department to standardize best practices, tools, and risk management frameworks across all international operating regions.

3. Value Delivery & Resilience:

• Key Savings: Deliver step‑change, measurable cost savings across both Direct Spend (critical components, materials) and Indirect Spend (corporate services, IT).
• Marketing Procurement: Professionalize and build out the strategic procurement for Marketing, covering agency spend, media buys, and campaign execution.
• Supply Chain Resilience: Significantly de‑risk the supply chain by implementing comprehensive dual sourcing initiatives and advanced supplier diversification strategies.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with proven experience driving similar procurement transformations within a fast‑paced, industrial, or high‑technology manufacturing environment or someone who is ready to bring ideas from outside of the box.

Required Experience:

• Executive‑level Procurement leadership, managing complex global spend categories.
• A verifiable track record of implementing significant, structural change in Procurement, including successful P2P rollouts and Procurement Excellence oversight.
• Strong technical acumen or relationship ability with the passion to build credibility and influence technical stakeholders (R&D, Engineering).
• Exceptional organisational design and change management skills and appetite.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
