Your Purpose
The Vice President Global Retail is the global business owner for all onboard retail activities across the Cruise Division of MSC Group, spanning MSC Cruises (Contemporary & Premium) and Explora Journeys (Luxury).
The role has full accountability for general merchandise, premium and luxury boutiques, logo shops, experiential and destination-led retail concepts, and future digital retail channels.
This position ensures that luxury retail standards, brand storytelling, service rituals, and partner ecosystems are fully embedded—particularly for Explora Journeys—while maintaining a cohesive, scalable global retail strategy across the Group.
The VP defines the long-term retail vision, drives commercial performance, elevates global brand partnerships, and leads innovation that differentiates MSC Group’s Cruise Division across contemporary, premium, and luxury segments.
Your Impact
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
- Define and lead the global retail strategy across contemporary, premium, and luxury cruise brands, ensuring clear differentiation aligned to guest expectations and brand positioning.
- Act as business owner for General & Luxury Retail, with specific accountability for luxury category development and performance.
- Own the end-to-end commercial roadmap including assortment architecture, pricing strategy, store concepts, concession models, and omni-channel initiatives.
- Lead strategic negotiations with global luxury maisons, premium brands, concessionaires, and key suppliers across all categories.
- Drive transformation toward high-margin and experiential categories (fine jewelry, watches, fashion, beauty, home, destination retail, limited editions, digital retail).
- Develop scalable yet brand-distinct retail frameworks, enabling selective deployment of premium and luxury concepts across MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.
Operational & Brand Excellence
- Oversee fleet-wide retail operations, ensuring consistent execution, elevated service standards, and luxury-level guest engagement where applicable.
- Ensure luxury retail excellence across Explora Journeys, including service rituals, clienteling standards, brand representation, and boutique environments.
- Introduce new retail concepts, luxury activations, pop-ups, trunk shows, and experiential programs aligned with each brand’s DNA.
- Lead fleet readiness for newbuilds and dry docks, including store layout design, visual merchandising, CAPEX planning, and luxury brand onboarding.
Financial Management
- Own the full Retail P&L, including annual budgets, revenue targets, margin optimisation, and inventory strategy.
- Optimise product mix, pricing discipline, discount strategies, supplier terms, and operating costs to maximize profitability.
- Deploy advanced analytics and guest insights for demand forecasting, SKU productivity, assortment performance, and luxury guest segmentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Casino, SPA, F&B, Shore Excursions, Digital, Finance, Hotel Operations, Newbuild, and Brand teams to create integrated guest-spend ecosystems.
- Collaborate with CRM and Digital on pre-cruise engagement, luxury clienteling, onboard personalization, and post-cruise loyalty initiatives.
- Act as a key stakeholder in brand governance, ensuring retail aligns with overall brand positioning and guest experience standards.
Leadership & Organisational Development
- Lead a global HQ and fleet retail organisation, including buyers, planners, luxury category specialists, and merchandising experts.
- Build a culture of commercial accountability, innovation, and luxury brand stewardship.
- Mentor senior leaders and develop capabilities across concession management, luxury category development, experiential retail, and data-driven decision-making.
Your Journey so far
- 15+ years senior management experience in luxury retail, multi-site retail, travel retail, or cruise retail.
- Proven track record of owning and growing large, complex P&Ls across multiple brands or formats.
- Experience in retail concept creation, experiential retail, and digital/omni-channel commerce.
Your Essentials
- Deep understanding of luxury retail codes, service excellence, brand governance, and clienteling.
- Strong global network of luxury maisons, premium brands, and retail partners, with demonstrated success in structuring high-value partnerships.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills in complex international environments.
- Willingness to travel extensively and operate at a global executive level.
