Zusammenfassung

University of Bern invites applications for a position focused on planning and conducting calibrations, tests, and maintenance of instrument systems within a cutting-edge space research environment.

You will work in an interdisciplinary team, contribute to ESA JUICE mission, and have opportunities to grow technical and scientific expertise. The contract is initially one year with potential extension.

Qualifikationen

  • Degree in engineering or physics (ETH/Uni/FH)
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++
  • Hands-on, collaborative problem-solving approach
  • Proficient written English; basic German preferred

Aufgaben

  • Plan and conduct calibrations and tests of the instrument under various operating conditions.
  • Lead diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware and system issues.
  • Characterize and optimize critical components and subsystems.
  • Develop and validate operation and software tools.
  • Investigate in-flight issues and support related analysis.
  • Maintain and improve technical documentation, including design and operations manuals.
  • Manage inventory and procurement activities for hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and conducting calibrations and tests of the instrument under various operational conditions Leading the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware and system issues Characterizing and optimizing critical components and subsystems Participating in the development and validation of operation and software tools
  • Helping investigate in-flight issues and support related analysis
  • Maintaining and improving technical documentation, including design and operations manuals
  • Managing inventory and procurement activities for hardware
Requirements
  • A higher education degree (ETH, Uni, FH) in engineering, physics, or a related technical field
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and electronic diagnostics
  • Proficiency in coding in Python and/or C++ or similar
  • A motivated, hands-on, and collaborative approach to problem-solving (team player)
  • Proficient written English skills required; basic knowledge of German is desirable.
