Job summary

The University of Bern invites applications for a tenure-track position in Probability Theory (80–100%), at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Hosted by the IMSV, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and Actuarial Science, the appointee will pursue excellent research, contribute to teaching at all levels, and collaborate across departments and external centers in Bern.

Start date is 01.02.2028 or by agreement; salary follows the Canton of Bern scales.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent research record in modern probability theory and its connections to related areas of mathematics.
• Applicants should demonstrate a strong publication record in leading journals in probability, statistics and related areas, evidence of the ability to obtain external funding, and the potential to provide inclusive, constructive, and collegial academic leadership.

Responsibilities

• The appointee will contribute to teaching at all levels in probability theory and related subjects and will be expected to participate actively in collaborations within the University of Bern and beyond.
