Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Due Diligence Consultant based in Switzerland.

Join a project-based consulting environment focused on high-stakes decisions across carbon projects, environmental markets, decarbonization, and natural capital. You’ll provide specialized technical and country-level expertise to assess projects, identify risks, and uncover opportunities across diverse markets. Your work may span land-use change, reforestation, biomass sourcing, forest management, policy, regulation, economics, and stakeholder dynamics. Depending on project needs, you may conduct research, analyze documentation, engage with stakeholders, or participate in site visits. Each assignment will vary according to your expertise and the requirements of individual projects. You’ll ultimately translate complex findings into clear written assessments and recommendations that support informed decision-making.

Accountabilities:
  • Conduct technical due diligence on carbon projects by reviewing project documentation, assessing risks, and analyzing regulatory, technical, and economic considerations.
  • Research and synthesize relevant data, market developments, industry trends, and best practices to support project assessments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in areas such as biomass sourcing, land use, forestry, carbon project development, policy, or technical feasibility.
  • Assess country- and region-specific factors, including political, regulatory, economic, social, cultural, and supply-chain considerations.
  • Engage with project teams, partners, and other stakeholders to gather information and support informed decision-making.
  • Participate in site visits when required, contributing to interviews, meetings, field assessments, and technical evaluations.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports, findings, and recommendations based on research, analysis, and stakeholder input.
  • Manage assignments independently while meeting project deadlines and adapting to changing project requirements.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in technical due diligence, impact assessments, feasibility studies, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: biomass sourcing; afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation (ARR); agroforestry; improved forest management (IFM); or biochar.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to evaluate complex information and identify material risks and opportunities.
  • Experience contributing to complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Knowledge of country- or region-specific policies related to land tenure, carbon rights, and Article 6 is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality work within project-based timelines.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in stakeholder engagement and, when required, in-person site visits.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to translate technical findings into clear, actionable written recommendations.
Benefits:
  • Project-based contract work with assignments varying according to project needs and your areas of expertise.
  • Opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects addressing climate, carbon markets, decarbonization, and natural capital.
  • Flexible, remote-friendly working environment.
  • Opportunity to work on international projects and apply country- or region-specific expertise.
  • Opportunities to engage with diverse stakeholders and complex real-world projects.
  • Benefits for employees vary by country; U.S.-based employee benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible vacation, company-wide holidays, annual winter break, and paid parental and family leave.
  • U.S.-based employees also receive support for remote work setups and access to annual company-wide retreats.
