Avaloq is seeking an experienced Oracle/Cloud Database Administrator to join the APAC Data Platform team. You will work with Database Operations, Infrastructure, Security, and Cloud Engineering to ensure stability, performance and security across Oracle-based platforms in the APAC region.

The role emphasizes Oracle database administration, cloud engineering, automation, and cloud transformation. Production platforms are hosted on OCI, with workloads also in AWS and hybrid environments.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years as Oracle DBA, Cloud DBA, or DB engineer.

Job Description

You will be part of the APAC Data Platform organization, working closely with global Database Operations, Infrastructure, Security, Cloud Engineering, and Application teams to ensure the stability, performance, security, and scalability of enterprise database platforms across the APAC region.

The role focuses on Oracle database administration, cloud database engineering, automation, operational excellence, and cloud transformation initiatives. Most production database platforms are hosted onOracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), with additional workloads running onAWSand hybrid environments.

This is ahands-on technical rolefocused on database operations, cloud platform administration, automation, and service reliability.

Key tasks:

Database Platform Operations

• Install, configure, administer, maintain, and upgrade enterprise database platforms.
• Manage Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other supported database technologies across production and non-production environments.
• Execute database migrations, upgrades, patching, cloning, refreshes, and platform lifecycle activities.
• Ensure database security, availability, performance, and operational resilience.
• Perform backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities.
• Conduct capacity planning and performance optimization.
• Troubleshoot complex database, infrastructure, and cloud-related issues.

Oracle Database Administration

• Support and administer:Oracle Database 19c / 23ai , Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle ASM ,Oracle RMAN, Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Exadata, Oracle Linux

Multi-Database Administration

• Experience with one or more of:Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL / MariaDB
• PostgreSQL administration experience is highly desirable, including replication, backup/recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.

• Contribute to operational maturity and service reliability initiatives.

Monitoring & Reliability Engineering

• Support enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.
• Proactively monitor platform health, capacity, and performance.
• Support operational readiness and service transition activities.
• Implement reliability improvements and preventive maintenance activities.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

• Participate in on-call rotations and production support.
• Resolve critical database incidents and service disruptions.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Support change management, release management, and problem management processes.
• Collaborate with global teams in a follow-the-sun operational support model.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, Cloud DBA, Database Administrator, or Database Systems Engineer.
• Strong hands-on Oracle administration experience in enterprise environments.
• Deep knowledge of Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle ASM, Oracle RMAN, Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Exadata, Oracle Performance Tuning
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery Solutions
• Experience supporting Oracle workloads in OCI.
• Experience supporting databases hosted in AWS environments.
• Experience supporting mission-critical production systems with strict SLA requirements.
• Knowledge of database security, compliance, and operational governance best practices.
