Zusammenfassung

The University of Zurich seeks a candidate to analyze how participants define art before and after dialogue with an AI chatbot. You will code learner–AI dialogues using a new framework and identify linguistic features in the conversations.

Responsibilities include verifying automated coding quality and determining when human interpretation is necessary, with training provided for the coding framework and methods.

Qualifikationen

  • Excellent command of English and German.
  • Ability to interpret language and support conclusions with evidence from the text.
  • Experience with qualitative content analysis, dialogue analysis, discourse analysis, or linguistic coding, or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of additional Swiss national languages is an advantage.

Your responsibilities
  1. Analysing how participants' definitions of art change before and after their dialogue with the AI chatbot;
  2. Coding learner–AI dialogues using a novel coding framework, for which training will be provided; and
  3. Identifying and interpreting relevant linguistic, communicative, and dialogic features in the dialogues.

A computer program will be developed to automate parts of the analysis. An important part of your work will therefore be to verify the quality of the automated coding and help identify cases in which human interpretation remains necessary.

Your profile
  • Excellent command of English and German;
  • The ability to interpret language and support conclusions with evidence from the text; and
  • Previous experience with qualitative content analysis, dialogue analysis, discourse analysis, or linguistic coding-or a willingness to learn and gain experience in these methods.

Knowledge of additional Swiss national languages is an advantage.

Advantageous but non-essential requirements:
  • Familiarity with R, Python, SPSS, or similar tools;
  • An interest in generative AI and learner–AI interaction; and
  • An interest in art and in the question of what may-or may not-count as art
