Job summary

Nebius is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our runtime systems team for a cutting-edge search platform tailored to agentic AI. You will design low-latency, high-throughput services and own critical paths from request handling to data access and response assembly.

You will optimize CPU/memory usage, collaborate with indexing and ML teams, and ensure observability and reliability in production at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building production backend systems.
• Strong hands-on expertise in C++ or Rust in real-world, high-load services.
• Experience building and operating high-load, low-latency user-facing systems.
• Understanding of system-level performance (CPU, memory, networking, data access).
• Production ownership: deployed, debugged incidents, rolled back changes when needed.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate core runtime services for serving search queries at scale.
• Build and optimise request flows, including query processing, retrieval orchestration, and response assembly under strict latency budgets.
• Develop systems that maintain performance and predictability under high load.
• Optimise CPU, memory, and data access patterns in performance-critical paths.
• Ensure reliability, observability, and interaction contracts across services.
• Define observability primitives: logs, metrics, traces, latency breakdowns.
