Job summary

Avacone in Basel is seeking a Windows Server Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain Microsoft-based server platforms. You will automate provisioning with PowerShell and collaborate across security, network, database and cloud teams.

Responsibilities include patching, hardening, AD/GP/DNS/DHCP, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery. A strong background in enterprise Windows environments is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Typically six to ten years of relevant experience, or demonstrable expertise.
• Strong experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SCCM and authentication services.
• Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Understanding of server security, vulnerability management and configuration hardening.
• Experience with virtualization, cloud platforms, and backup technologies.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging and event management tools.
• Knowledge of high availability, resilience and disaster recovery principles.
• Collaborative engineer with continuous improvement and automation focus.
• Commitment to continuous learning and relevant industry accreditations.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Manage operating system patching, upgrades, hardening and lifecycle activities.
• Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and related identity services.
• Implement configuration baselines and security controls.
• Support virtualised and cloud-hosted Windows workloads.
• Develop PowerShell scripts to automate provisioning and administration.
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity and security events.
• Participate in incident, problem, change and major incident management.
• Support backup, recovery, resilience and disaster recovery requirements.
• Investigate complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Maintain technical documentation, standards and operating procedures.
• Collaborate with security, network, database, application and cloud teams.
