Job summary

Google Zürich is seeking a Software Engineer to design and implement large-scale systems, focusing on memory safety, security, and performance for billions of users. You will collaborate across teams, adapt to evolving projects, and contribute to foundational infrastructure.

The Core team drives architectural decisions and developers’ platforms while offering opportunities to switch projects as Google grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required.
• 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., IAM).
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred; strong foundations in data structures and algorithms; Rust experience; security engineering background.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement techniques for extremely large-scale software systems across multiple product teams.
• Build partnerships with partner teams in memory safety programs and with industry and academia.
• Fix memory safety across Google products from research to engineering solutions.
• Research and apply memory safety techniques, from program analysis to machine learning.
