Job summary

Ontinue is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Zurich-based team. You will own backend systems in Python on Azure, building cloud-native services and automation for security operations.

You’ll collaborate across Product and Security Operations, design robust distributed systems, and contribute to AI-assisted development while ensuring quality, security and maintainability in production. You will work with the team in Zurich two days per week, embrace ownership from idea to production,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Excellent Python skills, testing, typing and asynchronous programming.
• Experience building backend services in production.
• Understanding distributed systems, APIs, data persistence and failure handling.
• Experience on Azure or other cloud platforms with interest in Azure.

Responsibilities

• Own work from idea to production and stay involved in production.
• Build Python backend services on Azure, APIs and event-driven systems.
• Collaborate with Product and Security Operations to translate needs into engineering solutions.
• Design systems that handle failures, retries and external dependencies.
• Balance reliability, security, performance and maintainability.
• Use AI coding tools judiciously while maintaining code quality and security.
• Write meaningful tests and perform security checks around edge cases.
• Monitor services, investigate issues and contribute to on-call rotation.
• Mentor teammates and share knowledge to improve engineering practices.
• Collaborate with Zurich-based team and international colleagues.
