Bachem Holding AG in Bubendorf, Switzerland, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager Automation to lead the DSP automation workstream in a major CAPEX program (> CHF 100 million). You translate process requirements into automation concepts and ensure GMP-compliant designs, leading external partners and cross-functional teams.

The role requires 8–10 years in pharma/biotech automation, DCS/PLC/SCADA expertise, and strong collaboration with Engineering, TechOps, IT/OT and Quality.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in automation, chemical engineering, biotechnology or a related field.
• 8–10 years of automation experience in pharmaceutical or biotech environments.
• Strong process automation expertise.
• Experience with DCS (Siemens PCS7/PCSneo), PLC (Siemens TIA Portal), SCADA (WinCC) and batch control.
• Solid understanding of GMP, GAMP5 and CQV processes (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Proven CAPEX project experience and interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience with MES, Historian and data/PAT integration.
• Independent, structured working style with high responsibility.
• High resilience and flexibility.
• Very good knowledge of English; German is a plus.

• Support the project from concept to commissioning, qualification and handover.
• Contribute to standardization and development of automation concepts for the new site.

The Bachem Group is investing in a new site in Sisslerfeld in Northwestern Switzerland. This step is part of our long-term strategy to expand production capacity. The new production site will play a central role in achieving these goals. For this large-scale CAPEX investment project, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager Automation

• Act as Senior Project Manager and Automation Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Downstream Processing (DSP) Automation within a major CAPEX program (> CHF 100 million).
• Lead the automation workstream for downstream manufacturing processes, including:
• Chromatography
• Filtration (UF/DF, TFF)
• Purification and related process unit operations
• Translate process requirements into automation concepts, batch logic and control strategies
• Review and optimize automation designs and system architectures in collaboration with external partners
• Integrate systems into the overall automation landscape (DCS, PLC, MES, Historian)
• Ensure compliance with GMP, GAMP5, data integrity and validation requirements
• Coordinate and lead external engineering firms, system integrators and contractors
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, TechOps, IT/OT, and Quality
• Support the project from concept phase through commissioning, qualification, and handover
• Contribute to standardization and development of automation concepts for the new site
• Ensure delivery in terms of quality, budget, and timeline

Your profile:

• Degree in automation, chemical engineering, biotechnology or a related field
• At least 8–10 years of experience in automation within pharmaceutical or biotech environments
• Strong expertise in process automation
• Experience with DCS system (Siemens PCS7, PCSneo), PLC (e.g. Siemens TIA Portal), SCADA (WinCC) and batch control
• Solid understanding of GMP, GAMP5 and CQV processes (IQ/OQ/PQ)
• Proven experience in CAPEX projects and interdisciplinary teams
• Experience with MES, Historian and data/PAT integration
• Independent, structured working style with high responsibility
• High resilience and flexibility
• Very good knowledge of English; German is a plus
