Zusammenfassung

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable enterprise platforms powering the BIS data infrastructure. You will ensure reliability, modernization, and operational excellence of core platforms such as Cloudera, Elastic Stack, and Dataiku DSS.

You will lead automation initiatives, collaborate with diverse teams, and act as a technical authority to align platform capabilities with business objectives

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or equivalent professional experience, with relevant industry certifications highly valued.
• Proven experience with Cloudera, Elastic Stack, and Dataiku DSS, focusing on cluster management, performance tuning, and workflow automation.
• Proficient in integrating platforms with Active Directory and Azure AD, and skilled in automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet) and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub.
• Expertise in monitoring tools and centralized log management through Elastic Stack.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux (RHEL, CentOS), including scripting, backup, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with big data platforms (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop), machine learning workflows, hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), and container management (Kubernetes, OpenShift).

Aufgaben

• Design, deploy and manage platforms like Cloudera (Hadoop ecosystem, Kafka, NiFi), Elastic Stack, and Dataiku DSS, ensuring security, resilience, and performance; drive platform modernization and hybrid cloud integration.
• Operational excellence: lead automation, standardisation, and lifecycle management; maintain runbooks and guardrails while meeting SLAs.
• Automate provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance using Ansible, Terraform, Puppet; develop CI/CD pipelines and integrate with AD/Azure AD for authentication.
• Monitoring and observability: implement solutions with Cloudera Manager, Elastic Monitoring, and OpenTelemetry; centralize logs via Elastic Stack.
• Collaboration and leadership: act as senior advisor to technical teams, mentor and align platform capabilities with business objectives, ensure secure-by-design practices.
• Risk and security: ensure audit/compliance standards, encryption, vulnerability management.
