Job summary

Jobgether SRL in Switzerland seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for ML Recall to build and optimize retrieval systems for a large-scale e-commerce search engine. You will shape dense/sparse retrieval, query understanding, and multimodal search with millisecond latency in a remote-first setup.

You will own models end-to-end, from problem framing and experimentation to deployment, A/B testing, and measurable impact, collaborating across teams and languages. Fluency in English required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building and shipping production ML systems.
• Experience with search, information retrieval or recommendations.
• Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning, and evaluating transformer models.
• Strong Python and PyTorch skills for production ML solutions.
• Familiarity with Spark and Airflow for data processing.
• Experience owning ML models end-to-end from problem formulation to deployment.
• Experience running A/B tests and using results to improve model impact.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for retrieval challenges.
• Excellent English communication in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize modern search retrieval systems using dense and sparse models and ML techniques.
• Balance retrieval quality with strict latency requirements to return relevant products within milliseconds.
• Develop end-to-end visual and multimodal search capabilities, including image search and visuals.
• Train, fine-tune, deploy and continuously improve deep learning models across products.
• Experiment with new architectures and retrieval approaches with live traffic tests.
• Own ML initiatives from problem framing through production rollout and monitoring.
• Collaborate with other engineering and ML teams building on your models.
• Address measurement challenges in recall with ground-truth and evaluation methodologies.
• Design models that generalize across 40+ languages and 20+ domains.
