RUAG is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (MSSQL) in Emmen to optimise the existing Data Warehouse and drive the migration towards a Data Lakehouse architecture. You will implement the migration, operate and monitor the Lakehouse, and prepare data for BI and AI use cases.

The role requires several years of experience with on-premise Data Warehouse environments, strong MSSQL and SQL skills, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in (business) computer science or data engineering or comparable qualification.
• Proven experience building and operating on-premise Data Warehouse solutions and, ideally, Data Lakehouse.
• Strong SQL skills; knowledge of MSSQL and preferably Talend.

What you bring with you

• Degree in (business) computer science, data engineering or a comparable qualification
• Proven, several years of experience in building and operating on-premise Data Warehouse solutions, ideally also Data Lakehouse solutions
• Solid experience in developing data pipelines as well as with data modelling and relational database technologies, especially MSSQL
• Very good SQL skills and ideally also Talend knowledge
• Understanding of data architecture, data governance and data quality management
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA data structures and logic
• Ability to communicate technical matters clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• Structured, quality- and solution-oriented working style as well as a high degree of reliability and independence
• Confident communication in German, both spoken and written; good English skills are a plus

In our Data & Analytics department, we are driving the transformation of our data infrastructure. We are modernising our existing Data Warehouse stack towards a future-oriented Data Lakehouse architecture, starting with optimising the existing setup. The Data Lakehouse forms the core of our future data platform.
