The role drives category strategies, sourcing and negotiations, and manages strategic suppliers to support major CAPEX and manufacturing projects with a strong focus on industrial automation technologies and cross-functional collaboration.

Aufgaben

• Own and develop the Automation procurement category strategy across equipment, systems, software, services and lifecycle support.
• Lead strategic sourcing and procurement for CAPEX, manufacturing, engineering and automation projects.
• Manage relationships with automation OEMs, system integrators, technology vendors and engineering contractors.
• Lead complex negotiations covering pricing, contracts, software licences, maintenance, warranties and payment terms.
• Analyse spend, supplier markets and risks to identify savings, sourcing and value opportunities.
• Partner with Engineering, Automation and project teams from early design through supplier handover.
• Develop supplier strategies focusing on performance, risk, standardisation and total cost of ownership.
• Support procurement of automation technologies including PLC, DCS, SCADA, MES, instrumentation and services.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement / Category Management professional to lead the Automation and Industrial Technology procurement category within a complex pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

The position will be responsible for developing category strategies, leading sourcing and negotiations, managing strategic suppliers and supporting major CAPEX and manufacturing projects.

The successful candidate will combine strong procurement and commercial expertise with a good technical understanding of industrial automation, allowing them to work effectively with Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing, IT/OT, Quality, Validation and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and develop the Automation procurement category strategy, covering equipment, systems, software, services, maintenance, upgrades and lifecycle support.
• Lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities for CAPEX, manufacturing, engineering and automation projects.
• Manage strategic relationships with automation OEMs, system integrators, technology vendors, engineering contractors and specialist suppliers.
• Lead complex commercial negotiations covering pricing, contracts, framework agreements, software licences, maintenance, warranties, lead times and payment terms.
• Analyse category spend, supplier markets, technology trends and business requirements to identify savings, sourcing and value-creation opportunities.
• Partner with Engineering, Automation and project teams from early project design through supplier selection, contracting, delivery, commissioning and handover.
• Develop supplier strategies focused on performance, risk, standardisation, consolidation, lifecycle management and total cost of ownership.
• Support procurement of industrial automation technologies including PLC, DCS, SCADA, MES, process control, instrumentation, drives, industrial networks and automation services.

Must Haves

• 10+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or Category Management within a complex multinational environment.
• Strong experience developing and executing category and sourcing strategies.
• Strong CAPEX / project procurement experience within industrial, engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Excellent commercial negotiation and contract-management capabilities.
• Strong supplier and stakeholder-management experience, including strategic OEMs, technology suppliers and/or engineering contractors.
• Good understanding of industrial automation technologies, ideally PLC, DCS, SCADA, MES, instrumentation or process-control systems.
• Experience with SAP and Ariba, together with strong analytical, commercial and risk-management capabilities.
• Degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline, with fluent English.

Highly Desirable

• Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical or GMP manufacturing experience.
• Technical background in process, chemical, electrical, automation or mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of automation lifecycle management, obsolescence and modernisation programmes.
