Safety Engineer (HARA / FMEDA / SIL) - Fuel Cell Systems

Job summary

EH Group is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to embed safety across fuel cell systems from concept to release at our Nyon, Switzerland site. You will lead hazard analyses and derive safety requirements across hardware, software and controls within a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities include conducting HARA, FMEA/FMEDA, FTA and safety calculations, compiling safety cases for certification, and interfacing with notified bodies and customers.

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc in electrical, electronic, mechatronic, control or safety engineering is mandatory.
• Minimum 3-5 years of functional safety experience in industrial, energy or hydrogen systems
• Working knowledge of safety standards (ex. IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 26262 and/or IEC 62061)
• Hands-on experience with HARA, FMEA/FMEDA, FTA and safety requirements engineering
• Understanding of safety-related hardware, embedded software and control architectures
• Familiarity with hydrogen, high-voltage or pressure system safety is a strong plus
• Team player able to work autonomously with internal and external experts
• Excellent spoken and written English is mandatory; French/German is a plus
• Functional safety certification (e.g. TÜV FSEng) is a plus

• Define/verify safety mechanisms, diagnostics and safe states with the controls and embedded teams
• Perform safety analyses and calculations (SIL/PL/ASIL determination, metrics, PFH/PFD)
• Compile safety cases, safety plans and supporting documentation for certification
• Interface with notified bodies, certification authorities and customers on safety topics
• Promote a strong safety culture and coach teams on functional safety practices

To help achieve our vision of a decarbonised future we are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to embed safety into our fuel cell systems, leading hazard analysis and safety engineering across hardware, software and controls to ensure our products are safe, compliant and certifiable.

This role requires full-time, on-site presence at our Nyon, Switzerland office. We're not able to offer remote or hybrid arrangements, so candidates should be prepared to relocate.
