Zusammenfassung

Ageas Re in Zürich seeks an experienced Reinsurance Underwriter Property for the DACH, Nordics, and CEE regions. You will underwrite treaty reinsurance, price and negotiate complex contracts, and lead risk assessments while collaborating with actuarial and risk teams.

You will contribute to strategic projects, maintain client relationships, and mentor junior underwriters in a dynamic, global setting. English and German fluency required; Swiss market knowledge is a plus.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or master's degree in economics, actuarial science, finance, engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in reinsurance underwriting, preferably in a German-speaking market.
• Strong analytical, modelling, and risk-assessment skills.
• Excellent command of English and German.

Your function

• Underwriting of treaty reinsurance business, ensuring profitable and sustainable growth.
• Evaluate, price, and negotiate complex reinsurance contracts autonomously.
• Apply underwriting guidelines, pricing methodologies, and best practices.
• Conduct in‑depth risk analysis and assess market, client, and portfolio performance.
• Manage and strengthen relationships with key clients and brokers worldwide.
• Represent Ageas Re at market meetings, client visits, industry conferences, and international events.
• Act as a spokesperson for reinsurance topics and market development.
• Partner closely with actuarial, portfolio management, risk management, legal, finance, and operations teams.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior and assistant underwriters.
• Contribute to strategic projects, product development, and process optimization.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of underwriting data, documentation, and reporting.
• Support and challenge internal risk assessments and capital allocation decisions.
• Monitor portfolio performance, market trends, and competitor positioning to support strategic steering.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting policies, procedures, and Group standards.

Your profile

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, actuarial science, finance, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in reinsurance underwriting, preferably in a German speaking market
• Strong analytical, modelling, and risk‑assessment skills.
• Excellent command of MS Office tools, especially Excel.
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and reliability.
• Confident communicator with excellent negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to manage complex workloads, tight deadlines, and peak renewal pressures.
• Curious, proactive, and comfortable challenging the status quo.
• Team‑oriented leader and mentor with a collaborative mindset.
• Full professional proficiency in English and German. Any other language is considered a plus.
