Job summary

ETH Zurich seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to bridge quantum computing and fluid dynamics. The project focuses on the Lattice Boltzmann Method and potential quantum hardware implementations for turbulent flows in collaboration with IBM.

You will lead research on quantum approaches to fluid dynamics, work with ETH Zurich and IBM teams, and publish results in high-impact journals and international conferences.

Qualifications

• PhD in a field linked to CFD, quantum computing, applied mathematics or physics.
• Strong background in CFD, quantum physics, quantum algorithms or computing.
• Experience developing numerical methods for scientific applications.
• Ability to work independently on challenging research questions.

Responsibilities

• Investigate Lattice Boltzmann algorithms for quantum implementation.
• Study quantum algorithms and linear systems methods for CFD problems.
• Develop novel linearisation and hybrid classical–quantum approaches.
• Collaborate with ETH Zurich and IBM project teams; publish findings.
• Present results at conferences and contribute to project planning.
