Alpineo Consulting in Basel, Switzerland seeks an experienced Qualification & Certification Engineer to lead equipment qualification projects for airborne hardware and software. You will coordinate DO-160/178/254 qualification activities, liaise with suppliers and test labs, and ensure complete compliance documentation.

The role focuses on qualification, certification and project coordination rather than pure software development or testing, with strong emphasis on software and hardware

Formación

• Engineering degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant aerospace experience, ideally 5–10+ years.
• Hands-on aeronautical qualification/certification experience and ownership of qualification topics.

Responsabilidades

• Lead aeronautical equipment qualification projects from requirements through final compliance evidence.
• Create qualification and verification plans and manage external tests and suppliers.
• Prepare qualification documentation: Qualification Plans, Reports, Test Reports, and Technical Justifications.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, testing, and compliance evidence.

We are looking for an experienced Qualification & Certification Engineer to join a major player in the aeronautics industry in Basel, Switzerland.

The position focuses on the qualification and compliance of airborne electronic equipment, covering both software and hardware.

This is primarily a qualification, certification and project coordination role, rather than a pure software development or test execution position.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead aeronautical equipment qualification projects from requirements definition through final compliance evidence
• Identify applicable requirements and establish qualification and verification plans
• Coordinate external test campaigns, suppliers, test laboratories and internal engineering teams
• Prepare equipment and technical documentation for qualification testing
• Write and review Qualification Plans, Qualification Reports, Test Reports and Technical Justifications
• Analyse non-conformities and follow corrective actions through resolution
• Ensure full traceability between requirements, testing activities and compliance evidence
• Review and challenge supplier documentation and test results
• Support the qualification of both COTS equipment and internally developed equipment

Technical Requirements

• Strong experience with DO-160 and environmental qualification of airborne equipment
• Solid knowledge of DO-178 / DO-178B / DO-178C for airborne software
• Solid knowledge of DO-254 for airborne electronic hardware
• Knowledge of DO-313 would be a plus
• Experience with CE conformity and/or FCC requirements would be an additional advantage
• Previous experience in qualification, certification, compliance or verification within the aerospace/aviation industry
• Good understanding of both software and hardware qualification

Your Profile

• Engineering degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, ideally 5 to 10+ years
• Hands-on experience with aeronautical equipment qualification and/or certification
• Ability to independently manage qualification activities and coordinate multiple stakeholders
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers, engineering teams and external test facilities
• Strong technical English, both written and spokenAutonomous, rigorous and comfortable taking ownership of qualification topics
