SCHOTT Advanced Optics, part of SCHOTT AG, in Yverdon-les-Bains seeks an expert to develop, optimize and industrialize thin-film optical coatings for new products and technologies. You will design production concepts and define requirements for coating equipment, automation and metrology.
You will lead NPI activities, transfer coatings into serial production, and drive continuous improvement with a focus on automation, AI and data-driven manufacturing in a cross-functional setting.

Develop, optimize and industrialize thin-film optical coating processes for new products and technologies, as well as major improvements to existing manufacturing processes.
Design innovativeproduction concepts and define technical requirements for coating equipment, manufacturing systems, automation and new production technologies.
Act as a technical expert forcoated optical components, conducting feasibility studies and translating challenging product and customer requirements into robust and scalable manufacturing solutions.
Develop and implementmetrology and in-line measurement solutions in collaboration with Quality, R&D and other technical functions to ensure process capability and product performance.
LeadNew Product Introduction (NPI) activities and ensure the successful transfer of new coating processes into serial production, including process qualification, stability and capability (Cpk, Ppk, Cgk).
Plan and coordinateproduction trials, equipment installation, process qualification and ramp-up in collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance and Quality.
Drive continuous improvement and explore future-oriented technologies such asautomation, AI, advanced measurement systems and data-driven manufacturing.
Lead cross-functionalProcess Development projects and provide technical expertise for quotations and customer discussions related to new products and technologies.
Master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, Optics/Photonics, Surface Science or a related technical field.
3–5 years of relevant professional experience in thin-film coating, process development, R&D, manufacturing engineering or industrialization, ideally within an optical or high-tech manufacturing environment.
Good understanding ofthin-film deposition and optical coating technologies, process optimization and characterization; experience with coating equipment and vacuum technologies is a strong advantage.
Experience withoptical metrology, measurement systems and process capability methods is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with ahands-on, structured and solution-oriented approach.
Proven ability to managetechnical projects and collaborate effectively across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering and Product Development.
Interest in emerging manufacturing technologies such as automation, digitalization, AI and advanced metrology.
Knowledge ofSix Sigma, statistical process control and Lean Manufacturing principles is an advantage.
Fluent English and French.
