Job summary

Paul Scherrer Institute invites a Postdoctoral Fellow in fuel modelling and behaviour. You will improve fuel performance codes, develop coupled workflows, and model advanced concepts such as Cr-coated cladding, with validation against experiments.

The role includes supervision of students, collaboration in international activities, and contributions to publications and reports. English fluency is required; German is not necessary but beneficial.

Qualifications

PhD in nuclear engineering (or related discipline).
Strong background in nuclear fuel behaviour and fuel performance modelling.
Experience with fuel performance codes such as FRAPCON/FRAPTRAN, TRANSURANUS, FALCON, BISON, OFFBEAT, etc.
Experience with validation, benchmarking and interpretation of fuel-related experiments.
High proficiency in programming and scripting.
Good knowledge of numerical methods for scientific computing is an asset.
Fluency in English; German knowledge is a bonus.

Responsibilities

Improve fuel performance codes and models for reactor operation and dry storage.
Develop coupled workflows linking fuel simulations to other codes.
Model ATF concepts, including Cr-coated cladding and new fuel concepts, with validation.
Contribute to international activities and supervise students.
Prepare scientific publications and technical reports on results.
