Job summary

ETH Zurich seeks a postdoctoral Optical Systems/Photonics Engineer to design and build light-delivery systems shaping light profiles to control hydrogel architecture for biofabrication.

PhD in relevant optics field and hands-on experience with laser beam shaping are required, plus strong English communication and a track record of publications. This fixed-term, 1.5-year position is based in Zurich and involves collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• PhD in optical disciplines with strong publication record.
• Hands-on laser beam shaping and phase modulation experience.
• Strong numerical analysis and optical modeling skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and build custom optical setups and beam-shaping trains.
• Characterize interaction of structured light with photosensitive polymers.
• Collaborate across bioengineering, chemistry, and biology to translate concepts into scaffolds.
