The University of Basel invites applications for a PhD position in the Rhine AI group, funded by the SNSF project Foundations of Post-Training for Reasoning in Diffusion Large Language Models. The role focuses on post-training diffusion LLMs, RL methods, and reasoning benchmarks, with strong emphasis on large-scale experimentation and principled analysis.

Based in Basel, Switzerland, you will collaborate with national and international teams, including EPFL and ETH, and participate in leading

Formación

• Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field
• Exceptional academic record and solid mathematical foundation
• Strong coding and implementation skills for large-scale experiments
• Experience with LLMs, reinforcement learning, or generative modeling is a plus
• Fluent English (spoken and written)

Responsabilidades

• Conduct research in machine learning and artificial intelligence
• Write research papers and present results at leading international conferences (ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR)
• Interact with national and international AI teams
