WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos invites applications for a PhD Student 100% to join the Alpine Remote Sensing group. The role focuses on developing methods to study large landslides, combining field work, remote sensing, and modelling to inform hazard scenarios.

Based mainly at SLF with periods at SUPSI Mendrisio and cantonal coordination, the project emphasizes independent work and strong English. Italian is an asset for stakeholder interaction.

Qualifikationen

• You have a master’s degree in engineering or natural sciences.
• You have excellent skills in mass movements investigation, remote sensing, field work, and handling large data sets.
• You have previous experience in satellite radar interferometry and programming.
• You have a very good command of English; Italian language is an asset.

Aufgaben

• Develop, test and implement new methodologies to investigate large deep-seated landslides.
• Analyze two landslide sites using field work, monitoring, remote sensing and numerical modelling.
• Collaborate with SUPSI, canton authorities and the project supervisor PD Dr. Andrea Manconi.
