A college in Switzerland is seeking a peer tutor to assist students in their academic success. The peer tutor will offer flexible hours depending on their schedule and the demand from students. Responsibilities include teaching study skills, communicating with professors, and providing constructive feedback. Applicants must have completed courses with a grade of B or higher at the college and demonstrate patience and knowledge in tutoring subjects. Clearances are required if hired.
Work Hours / Schedule : The hours flex around the tutor's schedule. Each student (tutee) is allowed 7 hours of tutoring per course per semester. The amount of hours per week is dependent on the classes the tutor is available to tutor and the tutoring requests received by the SSC
Primary purpose of position : The primary purpose of being a peer tutor is to support and help fellow students and classmates succeed in their academics.
Duties and responsibilities :
Knowledge, skills and abilities required : Knowledge of the course content you are tutoring, willingness to learn, patience with different learning styles, encouraging, relatable, consistent, and dependable
Education Requirements / Experience : Tutors may only tutor for classes they have completed at Geneva and received a grade of B or higher.
Additional Information :
Tutoring hours are dependent on the demand for tutors in specific classes. Students are encouraged to express interest and apply for becoming a peer tutor, but must understand they will be assigned when a tutoring request is received for the classes the tutor specifies. Hours will vary and are not guaranteed between semesters. Child Protective Clearances are required for this position. If hired, please contact stephanie.landry@geneva.edu to complete these clearances.
